Among the most loved lakes in Europe, Lake Garda is always a certainty. Exceptional views, favorable winds, Mediterranean climate and the width of the basin are the spearheads of a body of water ideal for fun and carefree boat tours.
In this article we have collected some stops not to miss to discover Lake Garda on board your boat.
The tour starts from the town of Desenzano, from where in a few minutes you can reach the wonderful Sirmione, also known as the “Peninsula of Poets” for the praises woven over the various centuries by various poets and artists.
Once in Sirmione, you can admire with your own eyes the archaeological area of the Grotte di Catullo, located overlooking the lake and overlooking the “Giamaica Beach” bathing area, known for its crystal clear waters and incredible shades of Caribbean memory. At the entrance to the peninsula, the majestic profile of the Scaligero Castle with its beautiful dock is worth a look.
After saying goodbye to Sirmione, we head to Manerba and its fortress, on whose top among the ancient ruins the famous cross stands out: this is one of the most fascinating viewpoints of Lake Garda, from which, in addition to the impressive Monte Baldo, you can easily observe the island of San Biagio (known as the Island of Rabbits), the island of Garda, the port of San Felice, the Gulf of Salò and the profiles of the coastal villages.
Let's take a visit to the Island of Rabbits and its rich vegetation, and here we are ready to return to Desenzano del Garda.
Defined as “the Portofino of Lake Garda”, Punta San Vigilio is one of the jewels in the crown of the eastern shore of Benaco and a fixed stop for boat tours through the Garda waters.
It is a small promontory located in the Gulf of Garda on which a magnificent Renaissance villa surrounded by cypresses is built. It is in this corner of paradise that, it is said, Winston Churchill allowed himself moments of relaxation between one political commitment and another.
An atmosphere awaits you that takes us back in time, still breathable today during a walking tour or even better by boat to discover Villa Guarienti, the church, the historic inn, the marina, the park (admission for a fee).
The best time for a romantic trip to Punta San Vigilio? The sunset!
